• Walking - the well mapped Beara Way walking route passes near Beara Holiday Homes.
  
  
• Horse-Riding - local equestrian centre located in Castletownbere.
  
  
• Cycling - the Beara cycling route is well marked and bicycles are available for Hire in Allihies and Castletownbere.
  
  
• Dinghy sailing - boat hire and tuition at West Cork Sailing Centre.
  
  
• Meditation Dzogchen Beara retreat centre – run by RIGPA, a worldwide Tibetan Buddhist organisation. Dzogchen Beara offers retreats under the guidance of Sogyal Ripoche, author of the best selling book, “The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying”. People come from all over the world to attend the centre. There are often classes available and daily meditations are open to anyone.
  
  
• Genealogy - many people come to the area to trace friends and relatives and track down ancestors. The very helpful genealogist, Riobard O’Dwyer, author of “Who were my Ancestors” is often able to help. His research is considered one of the most detailed in the whole of Ireland.
